July 14 MHBC Meeting

Join us on Tuesday, July 14 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM Mountain Time for a MHBC meeting at the Montview Boulevard Presbyterian Church, 1980 Dahlia Street, Denver, CO 80220. A retired beekeeper has generously donated some great beekeeping swag to the club! We'll be raffling these items off in our July meeting, so be sure to attend for a chance to take home some beekeeping equipment. Our July guest speaker is James Lee. James is the President of the Sustainable Beekeepers Guild of Michigan, a virtual educational organization with over 650 local and international members. He is also the founder of the Northern Queen Initiative and owner of James Lee's Bees in Romulus, MI where he lives with his wife Rachel and their 5 children. James will talk about Survivorship Bias: Not lucky. Not lazy. Just better bees. James will discuss how to breed mite-resistant queens without instrumental insemination of hundreds of colonies by concentrating genetically diverse stock in a single mating yard. He’ll cover selective pressure, reduced treatment, and multi-assay screening to identify true resistance—not just survivors by chance.
